My May Favorites

During the month May, these are the brands and products I reached for the most in my beauty product artillery!

HAIR:

A brand I recently became obsessed with is SITCH! This company is so new and different from any other hair care company out there right now. What makes it so innovative and unique is that it is a haircare line that was formulated in a skincare lab with clean ingredients, taking special care and attention to all the chemistry involved in creating a quality hair care product.

Lastly, what sets this brand a bar above the rest, is that it is taking huge strides towards sustainability by offering refillable pouches for your used up bottles, rather than getting a new bottle every time.

Here are some of the products from them I use the most in my day to day:

  1. Sitch Detangler Spray: Can be considered literal botox/ filler for your hair. Locks in color, smooths out tangles, leaves hair supple and has heat and UV protection. The founder told me himself, from his mouth, that this product was formulated thirty-nine times to perfect it. This shows in the quality of the product and why I can’t stop using it. Just a couple of sprays onto damp hair, and allowing it to sit for a few seconds, makes it so that once the brush hits the hair the tangles literally melt away. And I’m not even lying, once this in the hair it makes the strands feel like silk! It’s perfect for anyone that doesn’t like the feeling of product in their hair but needs the moisture and heat protectant that it offers. The scent is also so clean and yummy, with notes of orange blossom, neroli, and vanilla.

  2. Sitch Smoothing Lotion: A smooth blow-out solution. Fly-away/static tamer. Eliminates curls and frizz. Adds shine. Heat protection. Anti-humectant. This is a great product cocktail with the detangling spray or even on its own. I’m very intentional about the placement of this product but not too much, taking care to put it on the frizzier, untamable parts of damp hair. I can immediately see a noticeable difference in the way the hair sets after blow-dry, leaving it significantly smoother. The scent (patchouli, sandalwood, & ylang) is so different from any other hair product I’ve ever used, and took a bit of getting used to. I’ve found that the scent doesn’t linger after it’s styled into the hair but it does prevent your hair from getting that sleepy bed head smell after a few days of not washing (you know what I’m talking about).

MAKEUP:

Do you know when you fall back in love with a product that you used to be OBSESSED with? Well that was me this month with some of my old makeup favs!

  1. Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: This foundation blurs imperfections while delivering up to 24hr glow, wear and hydration with medium coverage and a luminous finish. To me, I find that the finish comes off very natural and sets on face sorta fast! So the end product gives you a brighter result but you don’t feel oily or cakey, giving your skin the perfect shimmer. This foundation is more day to day but photographs so well, making it super versatile for any occasion, even a night out!

  2. Kylie Cosmetics Translucent Powder: Okay, I’m not a huge fan of Kylie Cosmetics in general, but I feel like this ONE item is my best gate-kept secrets for translucent powders. Everyone knows about Laura Mercier or Huda Beauty when it comes to translucent powders, but I always seem to grab this when I want an airbrushed under eye. This powder sets the best with a triangle powder puff, and if you go in with minimal product you can layer it to achieve creaseless skin. PROTIP! cut the netting out of the packaging and you’ll be able to get more powder out in one dip, plus it’s more sanitary for us Pro MUAs.

This month I was more intentional with the products I used so I could really find which ones I loved the most, and figuring out what makes them my favs. This included me going back and looking at old photos of myself and clients and figuring out why we looked SO good. This lead me to finding new favs and revisiting old ones.

Stay tuned till the end of June to see what my next months favs will be!

Olivia
