Hot Trends of 2024
My favorite way to end a long day is to scroll through all the socials and see what hair and makeup looks and methods are trending. There is a fine line between evolving your personal style and just following what keeps popping up on your FYP. Right now there are a few classic looks that have gained popularity I am obsessed with.
Big volume with layers has always been an iconic look and I am so happy it’s back and looking like it’s here to stay! The easiest way to achieve that look is with the help of a thermal blow out brush and setting your hair in rollers. @Acquired Style has lead the pack with this method. She demonstrated that you don't need to have thick textured hair to make this style work.
TIP: Another quick way to achieve this style is to use a wide barrel, two inch, curling iron and set in rollers.
As a stylist, I am so happy to see that healthy hair is going viral. I feel like every other video I see is of someone's healthy hair routine. We can also see this trend impacting how brands are developing and releasing products. Healthy hair starts with the scalp, here some of my favorite and products and how I use them.
Oaui Scalp Serum : I use this product right out of the shower with freshly washed hair. The scalp absorbs this serum almost instantly, and dries down like you never even put in a product. Because of this you can put it on in-between washes or even blow dry it down if there’s any lingering dampness.
Vegamore Hair Growth Serum : I personally don’t use this product but I’ve seen a noticeable difference in the hair growth of multiple of my clients when used consistently.
Act and Acre Scalp Pre Wash Treatment : If your scalp is feeling congested and flaky, a good scalp scrub can help clear it up. The active ingredient inside Act and Acre is Salicylic Acid which can help with: exfoliating the scalp to clear loose flakes, combating excess scalp sebum + oil, and relieving itchy scalp.
The Ordinary RoseHip Oil : I use this oil all over my face and body, including my scalp. I suffer with eczema and scalp psoriasis. Because of the anti-inflammatory properties in RoseHip oil, this product really helps soothe any flare ups and helps prevent them. When using this oil on your scalp, I recommend putting it on a day before you plan to wash because of the oily consistency.
What style goes perfectly with oils and masks? Slick back buns. Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Sofia Richie-Grange played a huge role in popularizing this look. Even though this is not a new trend for 2024, it is one that is just as popular as it was when it first popped up.
TIP: Use this brush to accomplish the perfect slick back.
Now that I've brought up Hailey Bieber, I have to talk about the big chop. SO very 90s old money. This short hair style is technically inspired by the French Bob, which is a little shorter and fluffier than a traditional bob. People have also added wispy bangs to this style, giving it a more effortless look.
I’ve had numerous clients be bold enough to chop anywhere from five inches to an entire foot of hair and it’s been so satisfying to do. If you’re brave enough, these are some of my favorite looks that work with so many different textures and face shapes.
When it comes to makeup, Sabrina carpenter has quickly paved the way for the 2024 makeup trends with her extreme blush looks, doll eyes, and glowy skin. In my opinion, this look has been the perfect transition out of the clean girl look. Still staying true to the glowy skin, but embracing the power and creativity of pigmented products. I went down the rabbit hole of the products and methods used to achieve her signature beat.

As someone who has had eyelash extensions for years, the eyelash and brow blindness epidemic being on the rise is scary. Honestly, it made me rethink my whole life. I switched from volume lashes to a natural classic to combat this NIGHTMARE. I don’t know where the trend of unnaturally full lashes came from, but I can see why we got lost in it. I’m guilty of it too!
Super defined laminated brows used to be in, but we are seeing now more people rocking their natural shape with just a little bit of gel and definition. Personally, I did a lamination once and realized it wasn’t for me. There are some people who can definitely pull off this look, but once your brows look like you’ve been electrocuted, it's gone too far.

This is only a sliver of the trends we’ve seen this year and we’re only halfway through. There are so many more to come! Remember that although it’s fun to chase trends, they’re constantly recycling, so keep doing what you love and works for you, but take the trends lightly.
Which trends do you think you’ll go for this year, or maybe even start?
